The only siren legal for hazardous areas

PESO & CIMFR certified. Zone 1 and Zone 2. Ex d IIC T6.

If your facility handles petroleum products, gases, solvents, explosive dust, or any flammable substance — and you need a siren or alarm inside or adjacent to that area — a standard motor siren or electronic hooter is not permitted. The siren must be certified flameproof (Ex d) by an Indian statutory body.

Our flameproof sirens carry both PESO (Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation) and CIMFR (Central Institute of Mining and Fuel Research) certification — the two certifications required by Indian hazardous area regulations. Certificate copies are supplied with every unit.

Compliance note

If an inspector finds a non-certified siren in a hazardous area, the unit will be condemned and may trigger a shutdown of the area. Do not install standard sirens in Zone 1 or Zone 2 areas.

Do you need a flameproof siren?

Required when:

Zone 1 hazardous areaLocations where flammable gas or vapour is likely to be present during normal operations — pump rooms, compressor houses, loading/unloading areas, solvent storage, paint booths.
Zone 2 hazardous areaLocations where flammable atmosphere is not likely in normal operation but may occur in abnormal conditions — areas adjacent to Zone 1, dyked enclosures, tanker loading bays.
Petroleum refinery or terminalOISD-117 and ERDMP both specify Ex-certified sirens for fire and emergency alerting in petroleum handling facilities. Statutory requirement, not optional.
Chemical plant or pharmaceuticalSites handling solvents, reactants, or intermediates with flash points below 60°C typically classify process areas as Zone 1 or Zone 2 under IS 5572.
Coal mines and explosive manufacturingGroup IIC classification covers hydrogen and acetylene atmospheres — the most ignition-sensitive. Our units are rated IIC — the highest group, covering all lower groups.

Buyers ask us

Questions before ordering a flameproof siren

Can I wire this to my fire panel?
Yes. The siren accepts a potential-free contact input — connect the fire panel's alarm relay output directly. No additional relay or interface module required for most fire panels.
